GOSPEL: Baptism, Anointing and the Laying on of Hands

Posted by Dr. Timothy J. Sakach Ph. D. at 21 July, 2007, 3:51 pm

Baptism by full immersion, anointing with oil and the laying on of hands to receive the Spirit of Elahim changed my life. I remember the day as though it happened yesterday. When I returned home that evening, I was surprised to find that there was something new in me that gave me power and understanding that I didn’t have before. From that time on my life proceeded on a new path that led me to where I am today.

Should you be baptized? Should you receive the laying on of hands?

I think so, if you have the desire, and commitment and if you believe what the Scriptures say about these personal rituals.

Is it needed for salvation? No, but it does witness to your belief and commitment. It is a positive step and an action based upon what you understand and know. It may carry you further on the path to righteousness than if you didn’t have it. The reason I can say this is because of the fact that these simple acts dramatically changed my life, as surprising as that may sound in this cynical world.

Also it does not require that you join any church or sect. As John wrote, you do not need anyone to teach you, the anointing, and the spirit will lead you into all truth!

I have written this to you concerning those who lead you astray. But the anointing that you have received from Him stays in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as that same anointing does teach you concerning all, and is true, and is no falsehood, and even as it has taught you, you stay in Him. I John 2:26-27

Also to face the troubles coming in the next few years, you will want to be fully equipped as a soldier for battle. Trying to find this through religions that are marked for destruction is neither helpful or profitable for you. What you really need to crossover from darkness to light, from delusion to the Truth, from helplessness to power is something that delusional religions cannot offer you.

If you have read or listened to my posts and podcast, you may have noticed that I do not speak or write as others do, nor do I speak on behalf of any church, school, or synagogue. But I speak the truth of Elahim as it has been revealed to me through the anointing that I received. But what I have can be yours also, if you believe and recognize that you need to look forward to the future with hope in the faithfulness of Eyahuwah. You need to have Eyahuwah lead you through the word given to Enoch, Moses, the Prophets and Apostles. That is what the subtitle to this blog says.

Baptism (immersion) is an outward expression of an inward conviction. It holds the same meaning to a spirit-led life as a marriage ceremony does to a marriage. But for those who have been set-apart and called by Elahim, that outward expression combined with the anointing with oil and the laying on of hands can do wonders in your life.

This is adult business and was never intended for babies and those who are under age. When they are adults then they can make their own decisions. Infant baptism is another scare tactic of the religions to keep you and your family under their control. No baby is not going  be saved because they were not baptized. Saving is the job of Eyahuwah, and religions have no part in it. According to the scriptures many adults will be saved even though they may not have been baptized, anointed, and had hands layed on them.

Can you be baptized? Yes.

Can you receive the anointing with oil and the laying on hands to receive the Spirit of Elahim? Yes.

It depends upon what you believe and your level of commitment.

Eyahushuah gave a command to his “taught-ones”:

And Eyahushuah came up and spoke to them saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make taught ones of all the nations, immersing them in [into] the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the set-apart Spirit, teaching them to guard all that I have commanded you. And see, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20

What is the Name of the Father and the Son? It is Elahim

For both He who sets-apart and those who are being set apart are all of One [Family (NIV)], for which reason He is not ashamed to them brothers. Hebrew 2:11)

Eyahushuah said to her [Miryam from Magdala], “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father. But go and tell my brothers and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My Elahim and your Elahim.’ ” John 20:17

Elahim” and “Family” in this context are one and the same.

Shabbat Shalom! I’m writing to get some input from you about something. Our small fellowship here would like to be re-baptized tomorrow on the Feast of Weeks… since we were all baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit we felt that we needed to truly do it in the name of our Father and family. Could we please have your feedback about this. We want to follow our Mother’s leading on this, but we would like your input about it. Thank you so much for sharing what our Father gives you.

Blessings

    Shabbat Shalom, Elaine,

I thought it best to write a special email concerning your questions. But if you didn’t receive it, here are my comments.

The day I was baptized and had hands laid on me to receive the Spirit will forever live in my memory. For me the process was an event that really did change my life from that moment on. Although others who read this page on the blog become cynical and think I am crazy or something. But I cannot deny what I experienced as a result.

There are some things about baptism (immersion) that I think are helpful.

First, John the Baptist, according to the Hebrew understanding of Matthew, did not go down in the water himself, but stood nearby and instructed the people. He told them to go into the water and immerse themselves so that they could be cleansed. He didn’t go down into the water and take a bowl and pour water on their hands. But, out of kindness, he did help those who needed it as they came out of the water. Each person entered the water by his or her own choice. This, of course, became a personal time of cleansing and faith. And this was not a New testament ritual but something the people of Israel had done for many years.

John was the poretz who made a “breach” in the stone wall of the pen in which the sheep were held. Once the wall is breached, the “way has been prepared” for the sheep who then push their way through, where the Shepherd (Yahua/Yashua) is waiting to take them to pasture. This blog also makes a “breach” through which many will find the way to the true Shepherd who will lead them forever.

Second, there is also the symbol of death and resurrection. When a person enters the “watery grave” and then rises up out of that grave, he or she symbolizes another act of faith in the resurrection. They will be given the power to stand on their feet in that day. For this reason it is best to completely submerge yourself.

When I baptized people in the Jordan River, I was led to tell them about the death and resurrection meaning of baptism. To my surprise hardly anyone in the group of almost 60 had heard about this before, including some who were church pastors.

The night before I was in Galilee and had a dream about Yashua (Yahushua) and the disciples, and in the dream I received instructions about what to say. The idea was that Yashua when He was baptized did not do it for cleansing, but rather as a symbol of His death and resurrection. When He came out of the water, John helped Him to the shore. And John saw the Spirit descend on Him and heard the voice.

Now concerning receiving the set-apart (Holy) Spirit:

This is also an act of faith and trust in Yahua/Yashua. He left it up to us, individually, to pray and ask the Father (the Lord of Spirits) to give us the Spirit. Yashua said, “Whatever you ask the Father in My Name, He will give it to you.” This does not require a “minister” or some other supposed “authority.” It is an act of individual faith and trust.

However, that allows for others in the group to place their hand or hands on the person and pray for that person. If the group is too large for that, then you can draw lots to divide the people into groups and then within each group draw lots to determine who should pray. This probably sounds strange to approach this process in this way, but remember the earth was divided among Noah’s sons and grandsons by the drawing of lots, and that is still in force to this day.

The person upon whom hands are placed can pray silently while other’s take him or her in prayer into the presence of the Elohim to request that the Holy Spirit be given to this person in recognition of the his or her faith and trust.

You must keep in mind that you are at this time entering into the Kingdom or Domain of Elohim and requesting to be part of that Family of EL and given the right to the Name of that Family.

This High Day is a special day and time when you will be looking forward to the 1,335 day after the resurrection when you will be presented before the Father to be accepted and to take your place in living the eternal life as the Firstfruits in the eyes of both Heaven and earth.

I will also pray on your behalf and look forward to hearing how things go with you.

    Blessings upon you all.

Thank you for “Prepare the Way”. It is appreciated and very helpful.

I too would like to be re-baptized. I have been baptized by immersion before, several times actually. I have also been anointed with oil and prayed over by laying on of hands for the Holy Spirit. But each time it was into a different religion. I was looking for the way to the “One” True God. Now I think that I was being led through various religions so that I would learn that “religion” is not the way.

I understand that now and would like to be baptized into the family of Elohim. I would like to also be anointed with oil and the laying on of hands to receive the Spirit of Elohim. I live in Clarksville, Indiana, across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. I can immerse myself but I know of no one else who can anoint me with oil or lay hands upon me and pray for/with me for the set-apart Holy Spirit except people who are affiliated with some church. What can I do in this case? Is it acceptable to anoint myself with oil and lay hands upon myself as I pray for the Holy Spirit and also to be accepted into the Elohim, theFamily of EL. Or do you know of anyone living near me that could be of assistance in this?

You are correct that most baptized people were baptized as part of a church membership process. Baptism into a religion is like trying to learn the truth through a church sponsored seminary. I will check into this for you, I know some people in that area.
