Very interesting introduction, Dr. S. Here’s a question: Since obviously most people today are unaware of the esoteric meanings behind the language of sacred Hebrew texts (including what we call the Bible, which you touched on in your post Kabbalah Part 2, Secrets hidden in the Hebrew alphabet) will you be able to provide a “table” of all 27 letter meanings? As I understand it, one could call each letter “a code”, in that each letter has a specific, unalterable meaning. Thus when there is a combination of the letters (as I understand it) the entire esoteric text is revealed behind the word which is formed by the combination of letters. The same must apply, therefore, to strings of words. And this also means that anyone with that spiritual understanding would be able to reach the same meaning, whoever it is.

Will you be able to provide your readers with a source for those meanings? The answer should be “from ancient Hebrew” if that is the original place from which the meanings were attached originally. In other words, we should have an undisputed, solid confidence that the words mean what you take them to mean; and the words mean what others take them to mean from the beginning of the formation of those words, else how can anyone be sure of the intent of the communication toward us? What would prevent someone from extracting a false meaning?

Thirdly, based on the meanings, which one is asked to understand is “truth”, can we all draw the same answer to certain questions? For example, if I asked “What is the fast that the Lord has chosen for us?” or “What is required of us?”, the answers should be found in the text, and by going to the Hebrew, where each letter and combination thereof are written, should we not expect an answer to the question in its true understanding? An answer that, no matter who in the world is reading and understanding, would reflect the same meaning?

I bring this up because in today’s English language, the meanings of words seem to evolve and change, and the understanding is based on carnal reasoning; to use the example of “fasting”, there is one level of understanding, which is “to abstain from food”, but another higher understanding, ie., “to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?” (Is. 58:6). Might there be a higher understanding yet, based on the hidden meanings of the Hebrew?

Thanks

I will add another Kabbalah blog where I give the esoteric meaning associated with each of the 27 letters (including the 5 finals). I need to make graphs of each of the letters because few have the Hebrew font in their computer.

I found that you can’t simply purchase just any book on this subject. I thought I had found one, but alas, I was wrong. “The Wisdom in the Hebrew Alphabet” by Murik was disappointing and was only the author’s musing on the subject. His ideas on the meaning of each letter were not helpful, and did not shed any light on this subject.

I ordered some more sources from Amazon just now and hopefully these will shed some light on the original source of these meanings.

The main theme of the meanings of each letter focus on the “nature of God and the universe and the ultimate destiny of Mankind.”

But I feel I must issue a warning. There is much stuff in the writings about the Kabbalah that are misleading, mythical, and are actually condemned by the Law. So, if one is not first grounded in the Hebrew Scriptures: The Law, The Prophets, and The Writings, they can get sucked into the parts of the Kabbalah that we should ignore. Kind of like Paul’s pharisaical approach to the scriptures. For that reason, I will limit what I write to only a few small parts that I am convinced are true and open to understanding by the Spirit. The rest appears to be a bottomless pit of speculation and private interpretations that exists apart from the revelations from the Father through the Spirit.

Angie,
This post is getting a little out of date. The Ebook is still available, but in the near future I will need to update this post and the podcast with more up-to-date information.
