Since 2009, a mother and widow from South Africa and I have been corresponding. She had many questions, so I asked if we could collect those letters to be published. As time went on she began to grow spiritually, Also her son joined with her and they listened to the broadcasts and continued to write.
It was not easy for them to keep up with the demands. For one reason or another she had to move from place to place. Each time she trusted Yahua through all the trials she and her son had suffered.
A couple of days ago I received another letter. I felt I had not heard from her for a while and became concerned.
Here is the letter:
Heartfelt greetings Tim!
As I was going through some folders on my pc., I realised that this would be the third December that I am writing to you – amazing how time has flown, how much we have learnt and how precious you have been to us, as well as each true seeking person on the blog. It has been a very interesting walk since coming out of Babylon and I think for myself, the most awesome thing has been to come to know just Who Father is, and the fact that His Son is a separate Being (contrary to what was told us in Church) and that this Son is the same One Who Christians call God The Father in Hebrew Scriptures and that it is The Father Who actually revealed this to us – oh, how exciting when we can trace our experiences right back to what He has said in His Word.
The last two years, I have written from a lovely home near Johannesburg, as we were house sitting for dear friends, and the change was really refreshing, this year, however, I write from our THIRD home in ten months and no doubt, am longing for that break with refreshing and alas, at this stage, it seems very far away for the news I bring today is truly news of trial, hardship and testing.
Our new home was indeed a disappointment as we were not given the opportunity to check it out before we moved in, as the tenant was never available, but we trusted that all was well. But we found that that the one bedroom as well as the bathroom has damp in the walls, with paint and plaster peeling off – a real health hazard for my chest – but, well, it was too late and we have had to compromise in little ways but it has left me feeling that old niggle of problems.
Shaughn and I have acquired a new friend, and ‘man’s best friend’ is the right title for Twiggy, a black Labrador who we rescued from the Greek lady we stayed at the last place, and this amazing, beautiful dog was so badly neglected, riddled with hook worm, nearly died of billiary and upon having her sterilised, the vet found she had nine tiniest puppies, which he had to remove because of the bad state she was in. Twiggy was nurtured back to good health and we couldn’t bear the thought of her being put down, so here I am, with this amazing dog, the bond so strong and having had some obedience training, I walk her every day around a beautiful park with lakes – this alone, is so good for both of us – and this time has become a treasure – in all the discomfort of our new place, Father and Yahua have certainly blessed us in those little ways, which we KNOW are their hands in our lives.
For the hard news, last Saturday evening, as Shaughn was coming from a client in Johannesburg, he was involved in a bad motor accident – a drunk driver collided with him at an intersection ignoring the red light and tried to run as well – but he was apprehended and the police arrested him. Shaughn had to be cut out of the wreckage with the ‘jaws of life’ by the paramedics (very special people these are) and was taken to hospital for xrays and treatment. My car is a write off, and even though old, we had just spent a lot of money on new tyres, exhaust, shock absorbers and new windscreen as well as a full service – monies for all this from a client of Shaughn, as a gift….
We now are minus ‘wheels’, Shaughn’s injuries are quite severe, as he was pinned against the gear lever and his lower body was jerked out of alignment, rib cage compressed and of course his back is also affected. Yesterday, he had to go back to the hospital for more x-rays, as the doctor had to make sure nothing was broken in the pelvic/hip area, as there was blood in his urine and he is still unable to walk without crutches and cannot lift his right leg on his own – I have to help him on and off the bed, up off the couch, into the car – has been quite exhausting. The xrays have now revealed that there is a tiny chip in the ‘ball and socket’ joint in the pelvis, which had a nerve pinched and after manipulation, the nerve has been released, giving Shaughn instant relief, but is still not able to raise his leg. If we had to sit and bemoan this, we would be without hope because as you know, Shaughn is self employed as a massage therapist and sports therapist and needs to work to support the both of us.
Here are the miracles – we always look for the reason why these things happen – FIRSTLY, a friend, whom we have not heard from for a while, got news of us from another friend, and has given monetary gift to assist with rent and food. SECONDLY the man who hit Shaughn called him on Monday, to see him, as he was very concerned about his injuries and I have had to do the running around to traffic department as well as the police, trying to find information. I am depending on my own elderly friends and sister in law to drive me around. I, by the way had a bad fall as I climbed on a chair to reach the top of the cupboard and as I held onto the shelf, all the shelves came down and I found myself on the floor with a very painful leg – about a ten centimetre gash, all the skin taken off my shin. So, it has been quite a scenario…anyway, this man came to see us on Wednesday, and he is truly very sincere and so sorry for what he has done – unfortunately cannot compensate in a great way but has given cash to try to get a decent second hand car – only thing is, now that Shaughn cannot work until he is healed, rent etc., could be a problem for the next two to three months, as he may have to have an operation if the blood doesn’t clear in the urine – apparently this is due to slight injury in kidneys.
This man, young with wife and two children, chatted with us for a while and I know that when I got the news of what had happened to Shaughn felt a great peace which flooded my whole being – the biggest miracle being, his life was spared because my car was a Volkswagen Jumbo Golf and the vehicle that hit him was a BMW X5 – huge, in comparison and even now, when we look at the photo’s of the car, and when people see it, the first thing they say is – he is alive, thanks be to ‘God’ and we do indeed give thanks to Father and Yahua for their protection, as was promised to those who follow Him and guard his word!!!! Both of us knew that there was no malice or anger in our hearts toward this young man and when we met him, commented that one in a million would come back to see what could be done for the person they caused all the grief to and he said that his conscience was worrying him so much, he couldn’t keep away, as we spoke more, Shaughn commented that if he had any problems and wanted to chat over coffee or just open up, or needed a friend, our door was open to him – this took him by surprise, but gave us the opportunity to tell him a little about our experience with Yahua and he asked what church we went to and when we said we didn’t, he said that he cannot go to church because ‘he doesn’t fit there’ – amazing! We have reached out to him and it is now up to him to take us at our invitation to help him on the path with Yahua – he is out of jail on bail, and his case is a State felony and so he still has to go through this ordeal.
There is much to share with you but I don’t want to bore you Tim – in short, Yahua and Father are true to their word – keep close to them, guard His Word, clean yourself each day and they do exactly what they have promised – it is astounding and beyond our small thinking – so much higher than our ways or thoughts.
Later, I would like to share some of this on the blog – in the ‘Tests and Trials’ comments but wanted to let you know first – I have heard bits about how difficult things have been for you and that someone crashed your site – unfortunately, because of the move and now all this, I am four weeks behind in the broadcasts – but will be back on track soon.
May Father and Yahua be your strength and protection over this difficult time, blessings to you and yours,
Love from Carol and Shaughn Finnie
I felt that all the readers of this blog needed to read her comments of faith and trust. She will probably write a comment.
However, there is something that we need to do now. The Torah of Yahua instructs us to care for the widows and orphans. There is even a “third tithe” that is given every third year just for that purpose. Also because she and her son are one with us, they are part of our Family. I am convinced that Yahua wants to see our heart in this matter. All of us regardless of our condition need to provide help when it has been put into our hand to do so. “If someone knows to do good, but does not do it, to him that is sin.” In this regard, please reread the great message that James wrote. In particular the 4th chapter applies to this situation
And if a brother or sister is naked and in need of daily food, but one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and be filled.” But you do not give them the bodily needs, what use is it (your faith)? So also is belief: if it does not have works, is in itself dead. James 4:16:17
At this time, I do not have an address for Carol and Shaughn. But I will get it from them. If you are willing and able to help them, please send a message to me by using the “customer service” form. This you can find in the Policies & Copyright tag in the navigation bar below the picture. I will send you the address to which you can send your help offering. I do not want you to send this to me. Rather it should go directly to South Africa and to the address I will send you. If I find out more, I will include it in my response.
